Subject: Managing a String of Lionel O72 Switches in a Freight Yard

I've always wanted to have a long freight / passenger yard where parking 3 or more Lionel Heavyweight Passenger trains or a freight set consisting of 10 or more box cars wouldn't be an issue. With this new layout I've managed a yard over 8 feet in length. Below are photos of how I managed the switch wiring of Lionel's new FasTrack. The best approach was to distribute SC-2 controllers around the train set and consolidate the wiring between tables using several junction boxes. The SC-2 controller are installed one of two ways: either upside down screwed to the bottom of the table or on a dedicated shelf. When hanging an SC-2 controller upside down aligning the screws can be challenging. Remember they should be 3 inches apart and in a straight line. I always draw a straight line on the underside of the table using a ruler first. Then, I mark when the screws will go.
